Why isn't a single club merchandise item enough to appeal to every fan? Because different supporters have different expectations. Children are drawn to movement, vibrant colors, and products featuring a familiar character or mascot. Adults value practicality. Collectors pay attention to craftsmanship and detail.
With these three perspectives in mind, we created a cohesive merchandise collection for Chrobry Głogów: a rotating tiger keychain, a jersey-shaped metal bottle opener keychain, and a metal pin badge with a custom backing card featuring a QR code.
A club that lives beyond match day
Chrobry Głogów is a football club with a rich history in Polish football and strong roots in the local community. It is more than just a matchday team - it is a brand that remains part of fans' everyday lives, both on and off the pitch.
This everyday connection created the need to expand the club's merchandise offer. Not as part of a campaign or a one-time event, but as a permanent collection of products supporting different ways of building relationships with the club.
The only subtle reference to a broader context was the jersey-shaped keychain, inspired by the anniversary project celebrating the 1,000th anniversary of the coronation of Bolesław Chrobry and the club's 80th anniversary (1946-2026).
Different functions, one consistent collection (300 promotional items)
As part of the project, a cohesive collection of 300 club merchandise items was created. Designed as one unified series, each product was developed to meet different ways fans interact with club merchandise.
The rotating tiger keychain (100 pcs) was designed as the most visually engaging element - lightweight yet durable (made from hard resin), dynamic, and based on the club mascot, making it especially appealing to younger fans.
The metal jersey-shaped bottle opener keychain (100 pcs) combines everyday functionality with club identity and a subtle reference to the anniversary jersey design.
The metal club pin badge (100 pcs), accompanied by a dedicated backing card and QR code, completes the collection as the most "collectible" element - strengthening the connection with the club beyond the physical product itself.
Each item was designed individually, but based on one consistent visual direction. This allowed the products to work together as a unified collection rather than three separate promotional items.
Turning the idea into a product
The initial goal was to create a series of merchandise items inspired by the Chrobry Głogów visual identity - based on the club's jersey colors, crest, and mascot. The project started with materials provided by the client: a photo of the person wearing the mascot costume, the club crest, and jersey designs, which defined the direction for the entire collection.
Based on these materials, the visual direction for the entire collection was developed - combining different product formats into one consistent merchandise system.
The biggest challenge was adapting large, detailed designs - especially the jersey artwork - to very small surfaces such as keychains. This required careful selection of graphic elements and removing details that would become unclear or impossible to reproduce at production scale. The key was to preserve the character of the original design while simplifying it enough to create a final product that was visually appealing, durable, and easy to recognize.
The design process was carried out in stages - each subsequent version was developed based on visualizations and ongoing feedback. In practice, it did not require major conceptual changes, but rather refinement of details and gradual adaptation of the design to technological possibilities. One of the final elements introduced during the refinement stage was a dedicated backing card.
Among all the products, the metal jersey-shaped bottle opener keychain stood out the most - both in terms of design complexity and the final result. Combining functionality with the club's visual identity made it the strongest element of the entire collection.
The project was also distinguished by the client's decision to create a cohesive product series rather than a single merchandise item. This made it possible to build a broader story around the collection and allowed for greater creative freedom while maintaining a consistent visual identity.
First reactions after the products were introduced - especially among younger fans
Every fan sees the club differently
Not every fan looks for the same thing in a club. And that was the core idea behind this project.
Instead of creating a single merchandise item, we developed a system that allows fans to experience the club from three different perspectives - emotion, functionality, and collecting. Only by combining these elements can a complete experience be created - one that goes beyond the product itself and begins with the relationship between the fan and the club.
